Have Fun.

Be safe.

Make good decisions.

Call your mother.

What you eat could kill you; take no food risks, please. Be mindful always. Maintain and strengthen your preventive strategies. Bring your meds with you everywhere.

For other risks, do you really trust the people you’re with?  Do they have your back? Will they call 911 on your behalf or throw you under the bus? Be as clear about this as possible, and reassess regularly.

Adulting. You are both ready. You’ve practiced and trained. And you’ll continue to learn lifelong, as we all do.

I am so proud of you both—so much—not enough words to express.

Fly, fly, fly, my babies.

I will watch you soar with a heart full of joy.

And I will always welcome you back to the nest.

  1. Welcome to the Empty Nest Club.

Yes. They will find their ways back because you have done your job well and they love you for it. They have strong wings and a soft landing spot.

Breathe Momma. You have done well. ❤️

  2. Thank you for this thoughtful post Catherine. It reminded me of an ID wrist band I purchased several years ago to wear when I went out for a run. It contained my name, and a phone number to call in case I went unconscious. The company that produced these runner’s ID bracelets also added a ‘motivational’ catchphrase. The one they chose for my ID was KEEP GOING!

I wrote to the company and said “I hope the KEEP GOING admonition was for me, and not for my would-be rescuers”, which seemed possible given the purpose of the bracelet.

I never heard back from the company.
